Essen Motor Show 2006 Review
Europe’s biggest tuning fair took place for the 39th time
Early in December 2006 Essen became the stage for around 600 exhibitors of the automotive branch which presented their new developments to the public. The fair covers the three topics Automobiles & Motorsports, Tuning and Oldtimer & Classics which represent the main areas of the exhibition.
AEZ participated with their own booth which had undergone major changes. To realize the initial drafts the AEZ-team had been busy decorating the exhibition space, putting the wheels in perspective, organizing the show cars and providing sufficient catalogues as well as advertising material.
In the evening of the 30.11. Norbert Frohner, General Manager of AEZ, presented the newly developed products for 2007 to the professional audience. “Nemesis” was the indisputable highlight, a three-section wheel featuring a titanium-coloured star hub with an electroplated surface, which complements the top of the product range. Very well perceived was also the “Phoenix”, an SUV-wheel with a masculine design and star-shaped spokes. With the “Intenso” AEZ introduced an alloy wheel featuring an exclusive double-spoked design with a particularly elegant look due to its long double spokes which extend far into the centre.
A general tendency can be seen in equipping cars with alloy wheels in bigger sizes. A future trend towards additional colour finishes can be expected. Silver and high gloss is common today, chrome is widely recognized. A variety of black finishes (glossy, matt, polished) is relatively new. An overview of all current products can be found here.
AEZ invited Marc Basseng and Patrick Simon as special guests, who had gained 5 victories out of 10 and won the championship in the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft this season. They gave autographs and willingly discussed about motorsports and their careers as race drivers with visitors attending the booth.
